The Mustard Seed Mercantile

I recently participated in the Azalea Festival Arts & Crafts Fair in Fredericktown, MO. This was my second year with a booth. My husband’s family lives there so I thought it would be a low risk way to get myself out there. I did well, better than last year in fact, in terms of sales. I was also able to set myself up with a local boutique shop which is now carrying my cards and jewelry! It’s pretty neat to have stuff for sale in a store somewhere. I fully support local, independent stores wherever I can with my dollars, so it’s nice that one now supports me too. If you’re in or around Fredericktown please stop by and see the lovely gals at The Mustard Seed Mercantile.

This week’s cards….

I think I am getting the hang of posting for the weekly challenges. I should have posted Day 18 this week so that’s why you’ll see that Sunday sketch again. Thanks for stopping in and be sure to visit 365 cards for more inspiration and daily challenges! I am trying to use up my stash. How many of us paper crafters have those items that we “just had to have” and they’ve been sitting waiting for the “perfect” project? I have bins full of those special items. It’s time to get them out and onto cards! How is anyone really enjoying them sitting in my craft area?

Day 18 Sunday Sketch featuring washi tape!

Day 19-3 trims (chipboard border, rubber sticker dotted trim, and washi tape)

Day 20 Invitation (I made that star for a project in 2010. yikes! I need to use things up quicker. )

Day 21 You're included! Sticker, Ink, and Patterned Paper (ink is on the edges, sticker is 'smile' )

Day 22 Embellishment as Sticker: that chipboard tag is covered in washi tape and the 'Shine" was inside another sticker)

Day 23 goldenrod, blush pink, olive, and orange

Day 24 3 fonts (chipboard bird has many fonts, cheerful sticker, and 'with love' stamp)

A Card a Day

Amongst all the promises I made to myself this year (*ahem* blog more) I decided that I am 1) not going to purchase any new crafting supplies and 2) make a card a day for 2012. Well thankfully I stumbled upon 365 Cards. Okay I Googled “365 cards” and that came up first.  I started in January using their website as inspiration for some of my cards. When they started their new year earlier this month I decided I was going to play along. For the daily challenge inspirations please visit the blog. Thanks for looking at my first few weeks so far in March. In the future it won’t be such a long post.

Welcome 2012!

I might be the only one (at least according to my friend feed on facebook) but I am sad to see the end of 2011. I have high hopes and plans for 2012, but nevertheless it is bittersweet this year. This year there were new babies, new relationships, engagements, and marriages! I’m looking forward to starting 2012 off as well as I’ve ended 2011. I’ll be taking a blog class, my first ever, to jump start my little crafting hobby and blogging experience. It was a very thoughtful gift from the hub this holiday season. Did you get anything you were hoping for? What are you looking forward to in the new year?

Gratitude…

I hope you’re having a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend. These past few days my husband and I have been getting our apartment back in order, visiting with family, cooking new recipes and using lots of wedding gifts, and getting the house Christmas ready.  (this is in between his Skyrim playing of course)

We brought the tree up today. I decided to try one of the craft projects on my to do list from Pinterest. I cut up my wedding invitation and put it inside a plastic ornament. Cutting it vertically was cute in that it filled the space with smaller, curlier ribbon like strands, but I went with a horizontal cut. This allows the text to be seen. It’s less full this way too and when we shake it a little we get different sections visible. I’m probably going to make these for little gifts for our family members. A great way to use up all the extra invitations we have still. :) And Micheal’s has these on sale right now for .59!

As I’ve been running errands and cleaning up the post wedding blow out I’ve been reminded time and again how blessed I am. I’m grateful for a partner to share in my journey, who helps me tackle projects in and outside the home. I’m thankful that we have such supportive family who would appreciate the gesture of my ornaments. I’m grateful for a safe and warm home to clean and worry over.

Happy Fall!
